Swimming pool Disinfectants

Precure – T 90

For Swimming Pool Disinfectantation

TRICHLORO ISOCYANURIC ACID (TCCA)

Granules and 200 GM Tablets

DISCRIPTION:

Precure – T 90 is excellent source of chlorine for the control of biofouling in swimming pools, industrial water systems and cooling water systems.

Precure – T 90 has been proved to be a better and more economical alternative to bleaching powder and sodium hypochlorite for all kind of chlorination applications.

PROPERTIES:

Chemical Name: Trichloroisocyanuric acid
Formula: C3O3N3CI3
CAS Number: 87‐90‐1
Molecular Weight: 232.4
Appearance: white powder or granules
Effective chlorine: >90.0%
PH (1% soln): 2.7 to 3.3
Moisture: 0.5% max.
Solubility at 25 C: 1.2 (gm / 100 gm water)

Chemistry of PRECURE – T 90

After hydrolysis in water, Precure – T 90 will be converted to hypochorous acid (HOCCL), which has strong microbial activity. The hydrolysis by‐product, cyanuric acid, acts as a stabilizer and prevents conversion of hypochlorous acid into hypochlorite ion (OCL) owing to sunshine and heat, which has low microbial activity.

Advantages of PRECURE – T 90

• Cost effective and stable source of chlorine
• Easy to handle, ship, store and apply. Save expensive cost of equipments.
• No white turbidity (as in case of bleaching powder)
• Long duration of sterilizing effect
• Stable in storage – long shelf life.

Applications:

• Disinfection of civil sanitation and water
• Disinfection of swimming pools
• Disinfection of industrial water pretreatments
• Oxidizing microbiocide for cooling water systems
• Bleaching agent for cotton, gunning, chemical fabrics
• Animal husbandry and plant protection
• As anti – shrink agent for woolens and battery materials
• As deodorizer in distilleries
• As preservative in horticulture and aquaculture industries.

Handling

Keep the container closed when not in use. Store in cool, dry and well – ventilated area, away from fire and heat. Use dry, clean clothing when handling Precure – T 90 breathing dust, and do not bring in contact with eyes or skin. Wear rubber or plastic gloves and safety glasses.

Packing

Precure – T90 is available in 50 kg HDPE drums

Recommendations for Pool Treatment

The most important water quality parameter to maintain in a swimming pool is the free chlorine level. The free chorine concentration should always be over 1.0 ppm (mg/L) to keep bacteria under control. We normally recommend about 3 – 4 ppm, as this level is required to control both bacteria and algae. The higher level is particularly recommended if Procure – T90 (TCCA) is being used.

The other important water quality parameters to be maintained are pH and total alkalinity. The pH should be kept in the range of 7.2 – 7.6. Lower PH lead to corrosion of piping and attacks pools walls (plaster, tile grout, etc.) Higher PH reduces the effectiveness of the chlorine. This is also the PH which is best for the swimmers. Precure –T 90 (TCCA 90) is acid, so over the time it can slowly decrease the pH. The pH should be checked routinely and if it drops below 7.2 , some soda ash (sodium carbonate) should be added to raise the pH back to the recommended level. The total alkalinity should be maintained in the range of 80 – 125 ppm. Alkalinity (also known as pH buffer) limits how fast the pH changes when acid or caustic are added to the water. Soda ash also adds alkalinity.

The National spa & Pool Institute (USE), a swimming pool and spa industry organization, has developed a number of standards for design and use table below. click http://www.nspi.org for more information.
